Don was born Monday, September 23, 1940 in Durant, Oklahoma to parents Jack and Lorene Mead. He passed from this life on Saturday, June 12, 2021 in Durant at the age of 80.

Don is a graduate of Durant High School. He married the love of his life, Doralyn Shastid, on August 16, 1963 in Durant and have been married almost 58 years. They lived in Ardmore for thirty years before settling to Durant in 2009.

Don was employed with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for thirty years as a Surveyor until his retirement.

Don enjoyed raising animals, fishing and hunting. Don and Doralyn are members of the Stone Creek Baptist Church.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris Mead Mangham; brother, Billy Mead; parents in- law, Floyd and Bonnie Shastid; niece, Gina Dancer; nephews, Steven Mangham and David Robinson; and brother-in-law, Jerry Shastid.

He is survived by his loving wife, Doralyn, of Durant; daughter, Staci Mead of Durant; son, Ricky Mead and his wife, Oksana, of Keller, TX; granddaughter, Sophia Mead of Keller, TX; sister-in-law, Kyron Wyatt of Durant; nieces, Kay Mangham of McKinney, TX, Tandi Hart of Madill, OK, and Pam Wilson and her husband, Paul, of Broken Arrow, OK; nephew, Randy Mead and his wife, Melanie, of Owasso, OK.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Highland Cemetery pavilion with Bro. Dennis Pena officiating.
