Jerry Don Hull - a caring brother, uncle, musician, and life-long teacher, passed away peacefully with family at bedside on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the age of 81.

Jerry, the eldest of four siblings, was born on October 15, 1939 in Durant, Oklahoma to loving parents Eugene and Eber Hull. He was also quite fond of the large extended family that he was raised alongside with - including his grandparents, as well as his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He attended Durant High School where he was an honors academic student and a 5-year All-State Band clarinetist. Jerry subsequently graduated with honors from the University of Houston where he continued to be a high-achieving musician and was also a graduate assistant band director. He especially favored the several years during which he played with the Houston Symphony.

Jerry went on to have a very long and successful career as a band director in both Oklahoma and Texas. Jerry was a member of the Oklahoma Band Master's Hall of Fame, and recipient of the 1st award for distinguished alumni from the University of Houston. He continued to teach private lessons up until the age of 80. He was a mentor to hundreds of students, thereby influencing several generations of musicians and band teachers. He was also an avid gardener, loved watching football, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Jerry is survived by his sister - Jeannine and her husband Rick; brother - Greg and his wife Kathy; sister - Twana and her husband Gary; aunt - Rosie; nieces - Kathy, Annie, Molly, and Kara; and nephew Mark, and Margaret Chisholm of Ft. Worth, Texas, a special friend of Jerry's and his family. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and many students.
