Tommy Grider, a beloved family member, and resident of Durant, Oklahoma, left this life on Tuesday May 9, 2017, at the age of 71 years 1 month and 1 day He was born on April 8, 1946 in Ft. Hood, Texas to Thomas Jefferson and Kathleen (Bardwell) Grider. Tommy married Sharolyn Sheri Rae Earles in Durant, Oklahoma on August 5, 1966.

Tommy served his state, and country, in the United States Army Reserves. He was a partner in the Grider Lumber Company, and retired as a manager for the Sherwin Williams Paint Company in Durant, Oklahoma. Tommy was an active member of the Elks, Masons, and Shriners. He loved his family and cherished all the times they spent together.

Mr. Grider is survived by his beloved wife, Sheri of the home; sons, Jason Grider of Durant, Oklahoma and Josh Grider of Plano, Texas; grandsons, Jaron Grider of Schofield Barracks, O'ahu Hawaii, Steven Trude of Durant, Oklahoma, Alec Grider of Durant, Oklahoma and Mark Beals of Wilson, Oklahoma; and 1 great-grandchild; sister, Kathy Whatley of Durant, Oklahoma; brother, Jimmy Grider and wife Rhonda of Durant, Oklahoma; brothers-in-law, Mark Earles and wife Regina of Denison, Texas, Jeff Earles and wife Jaime of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Joe Earles and Joy Spencer of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Matt Earles and wife Barbara of Durant, Oklahoma.

Mr. Grider was preceded in death by his father, T.J. Grider; and mother, Kathleen Grider.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Elks National Foundation www.elks.org or 2750 N. Lakeview Ave, Chicago, Il. or the Oklahoma Elks Major Projects, Hwy 70 and Gates Ave., Durant, Oklahoma 74701

Family Hour will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma on Thursday, May 11, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday May 12, 2017 at the Highland Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Anthony Williams officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alec Grider, Boyd Vandergriff, Eric Paddock, Jaron Grider, Mark Beals, Steven Trude, and the honorary pallbearers are J.D. Krupika and Matt Hinchey.
