Janis Marie Ford of Durant, Oklahoma passed away after a brief battle with lung cancer in Denison, Texas on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the age of 68 years 11 months and 26 days. Janis is the daughter of the late Ralph and Vivian Roth of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on Saturday, March 20, 1943. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Howard and Ireta Maine of St. Charles, Illinois.

She was the loving and supportive wife for nearly 52 years of Larry Gene Ford of Durant, with 3 sons: Roger and wife Tammy Ford of The Woodlands, Texas, Howard Ford of Atoka, Oklahoma and Scott Ford and wife Tammy of Durant, Oklahoma. She was employed by the First United Bank in Durant for the past several years and was known throughout the community from her working days at Diane’s Outlet Barn, C.R. Anthony’s and Gem Jewelers since she moved here with her family from St. Charles, Illinois in the summer of 1977. She loved people and never met a stranger. She loved to travel and besides living in various Illinois cities, she lived in Holland, Pasadena, California, Long Beach, California, Phoenix, Arizona, and Odessa, Texas before returning to Durant, Oklahoma in 2002. Her most recent vacation was in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, spending a week in Hawaii with her husband. She was looking forward to making a trip to Alaska. She now rests in the greatest, most magnificent place a person can go, and that is the Glory of Heaven.

Janis’ pride and joy here on earth were her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her grandchildren include: Linzie Ford, Durant, Oklahoma, Ann Marie Moon and husband Ryan of St. Augustine, Florida, Lesley Ford of Durant, Oklahoma, Kimberly Ford Crelia and husband Cody of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tiffany Ford of Durant, Oklahoma, Tabatha Ford Bergdoll and husband Michael of Durant, Oklahoma, Tamra Ford Alvarado and husband Eli of Duncan, Oklahoma, Christian Ford of College Station, Texas, Sarah Ford of The Woodlands, Texas , Ashley Ford of Piedmont, Oklahoma and Cody Ford of Atoka, Oklahoma. Janis’ great grandchildren include: Colton Ford, Kason Ford, Talyn Willis and Tucker Ford of Durant, Oklahoma, Bentley and Brandon Moon of St. Augustine, Florida. She was loved by a host of nieces and nephews many that have relocated to the Durant area over the years as well as many others scattered throughout the Midwest and Southern USA. Janis’ siblings are June Long of Durant, Oklahoma, Larry Roth and wife Judy of Springfield, Illinois, Bill Roth and wife Janice of Springfield, Illinois, Frank Roth and wife Linda of O'Fallon, Missouri and Jack Roth of Maple Park, Illinois. Her in-laws are Nancy and Maurice French of St. Charles, Illinois, Jerry Ford of St. Charles, Illinois, Jim Maine and wife Denise of Keller, Texas and Richard Maine and wife Kris of St. Charles, Illinois and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Janis Marie Ford’s memory to the American Cancer Society at www.americancancerfund.org or the Oklahoma Brain Tumor Foundation at www.okbtf.org Family Hour will be Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 2-4:00 P.M. at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 19, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. James Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Christian “Alex” Ford, Cody Ford, Colton Ford, Jacob Roth, Cody Crelia and Drew Crain and the honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren, Kason Ford, Talyn Willis, Tucker Ford, Bentley Moon and Brandon Moon.
