Marcia Dickerson a beloved wife, mother and resident of Durant, Oklahoma, passed from this life too soon and joined her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the age of 59 years 6 months and 13 days. She was born in Durant, Oklahoma to Tommy Allen and Margaret Ann (Morgan) Gainer on Sunday, December 16, 1956. Marcia Gainer married her best friend and cherished partner in life Robert Dickerson in Durant, Oklahoma on March 8, 1986.

Marcia was a member of the Mead Baptist Church. She earned a business degree from the International School of Business in Sherman, Texas. Marcia worked a variety of jobs during her lifetime; the KLBC, Southeastern Oklahoma State University Business Department and Mays Hospice. She enjoyed many hobbies like; reading (she was an avid reader), cooking and baking for her family, spending time cuddling with her cats, but she took the greatest pleasure in the camping trips taken with her husband and kids. Marcia loved being a mother and was always deeply involved in her children’s lives. Family meant everything to her, some of her most cherished memories were of growing up listening to her daddy and his siblings sing and play the guitar.

Mrs. Dickerson is survived by her beloved husband Robert of Durant, Oklahoma; mother, Margaret Ann Gainer of Durant, Oklahoma; children, Nicholas Dickerson of Silo, Oklahoma and Morgan Johnston and husband Joshua of Silo, Oklahoma; she is also survived by many loving family members.

Mrs. Dickerson was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Gainer; grandparents, Olin and Mae Morgan and Tom and Emma Gainer.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6-7:00 PM on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant. A church service will be at 10:00 Tuesday, July 5 at the Mead Baptist Church with Bro. Kerry Groce officiating. Pallbearers will be Terry Morgan, Jim Pratt, Garrett Potts, John Wilmoth, Grady Smith and Rick Morgan. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery.
