Billie Ann Brearley ) Burkhalter

Billie Ann (Brearley) Burkhalter was born on July 22, 1952, in Durant Oklahoma to Walter Harold Brearley and Eva Marie (Clark) Brearley. Billie passed from this life on Sunday, January 29, 2023, in Durant at the age of 70.

Billie was raised in Durant Oklahoma and attended Durant High School. Billie graduated from Durant High School in 1970. She attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University from 1979 to 1982 earning a master’s degree in business administrative studies.

Billie then began her career in Austin, Texas as a field audit supervisor for National Heritage Insurance Company. She later worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Mexico in Irving Texas. After several years there she was a reimbursement manager for Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Texas.

She continued working in the medical field, working as a reimbursement coordinator/manager for several insurance companies, before returning to Durant in 2003 to be close to family. In 2008 she went to work for Indian Nation Wholesale. She continued to work there for 15 years until her retirement in 2022.

Billie married Roger Burkhalter in 1987, in Fort Worth Texas. They were soulmates until his passing in 2003. Billie enjoyed being with family, she especially enjoyed her many cats. She was known to take in many strays. She enjoyed the arts and movies. She had an awesome ability to find hidden treasures while shopping.

Billie was preceded in death by her father Walter Harold Brearley, son Jason Anders, and brother Robert Lee Brearley. She is survived by her mother Eva Marie Brearley of Durant, brother Walter Harold Brearley II of Durant, niece Alyssa Ridenour of Mesquite, TX, daughter in law Tracy Anders of Dayton, Ohio and grandchildren Logan and Hayden Anders of Dayton, Ohio. A celebration of her life will be held at Highland Cemetery Chapel Friday, February 10th at 2:00 PM, inurnment to follow at Highland Cemetery on that day.
