Elmer Alene "Lena" Beal Buchanan passed from her earthly life in Durant, Oklahoma on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the age of 92 years, 2 months and 3 days.

She was born to William and Sally Cora Gardner Beal on Sunday, September 7, 1919 in Silo, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Buchanan dedicated her life to caring for her family and her home. She was a faithful member of the Bible Baptist Church.

Ms. Lena enjoyed singing and playing music.

She took pleasure in going to flea markets and browsing through all the treasures.

Mrs. Buchanan is survived by her husband, Alvin Lee Buchanan of the home; son, Rickey Lynn Buchanan of Durant, Oklahoma; daughters, Linda Christian of Durant, Oklahoma and Louise Buchanan of Durant, Oklahoma; sons, Don Houston Robertson of Durant, Oklahoma and Billy Joe Robertson of Mesquite, Texas; daughter, Dorothy Carol Barnes of Kauffman, Texas; twenty one grandchildren, forty six great-grandchildren and thirty four great-great grandchildren.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sally Beal; son, Alvin Lynn Buchanan; granddaughter, Sally Robertson; grandson, Christopher Crane; great-granddaughters, Tiffany Keener; great grandson, Jon Christian and her siblings.

Family hour will be 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Parham and Bro. Donnie Hyde Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Christian, Mike Christian, Randy Rochelle, Sean Rochelle, Shawn Buchanan, Kevin Dillard, and Russell Melton.
