Billie "Jan" Bishop a resident of Mead, Oklahoma passed from this life at her home on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the age of 69 years 2 months and 24 days. She was born in Durant, Oklahoma to William Thomas “Bill” Bates and Marjorie (Shaw) Bates on October 18, 1944. Jan married Tommy Bishop in Durant, Oklahoma on Tuesday, September 1, 1964.

Jan a member of the 7th and Beech Church of Christ. She was a person who dedicated herself lovingly to her family and those around her. Jan had a way with children and worked for the Wee Care Daycare for many years. She enjoyed cooking and sharing it with her family and friends and always found time to do crafts with her precious grandchildren. Jan had a caregivers heart and cherished the time she spent with her family.

Mrs. Bishop is survived by her husband, Tommy Bishop of Mead, Oklahoma; daughter, Andrea Johnson and husband Ken of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Ryan Johnson of Durant, Oklahoma, Alissa Marsch and husband Joshua of Durant, Oklahoma, Daniel Johnson of Durant, Oklahoma, Jordan Bishop of Henderson, Tennessee, Justin Bishop of Durant, Oklahoma, Nikki Albright and husband Tim of Durant, Oklahoma and Ashley Pardue and husband Daniel of Denton, Texas; brother, Mike Rose and wife Ann of Burleson, Texas; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Thompson and father, William "Bill" Bates; and her beloved son Tommy Bishop.

Mrs. Bishop's family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Pettyjohn Springs Christian Camp at P.O. Box 440, Madill, Oklahoma 73446 or the Sunset International Bible Institute 3723 34th St., Lubbock, Texas 79410.

Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 PM Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service in honor of her memory will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the 7th and Beech Church of Christ with John Curtis officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Jason Corley, Josh Corley, Jeremy Corley, Josh Rose, Chance Rose, James Bishop, Andrew Bishop and Jim Culbreath. Honorary pallbearer will be Scott Arthur.
