Oneta Elizabeth Wingfield Stinson, 88, went to see her loving Lord on Friday, September 16, 2011 in Denison, Texas. She was born January 24, 1923 in Durant, Oklahoma to Dulcie Beatrice Fite Wingfield and Benjamin Franklin Wingfield.

Oneta attended school at Caddo where she lettered in basketball and reported for the school paper. She was also fond of dancing, especially the jitter bug. From Caddo, she went to Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. It was while in Durant that she met her husband of 61 years, Talmadge Edward (T.E.) Stinson. They met in front of the science building. They were married two years later on June 6, 1942. Before their wedding day, Oneta caught a train to Phoenix City, Alabama where the ceremony was to take place. While on the train she saw one of her elementary school teachers who helped her pick out a wedding dress on a stop in Memphis, Tennessee. The couple resided in Phonenix City, Alabama until T.E. was called to the service. For two years she and her son, Larry, lived with her mother in Caddo while her husband served in War World II. When T.E. came back, the couple resided in Durant before moving to Denison, Texas in 1955. While living in Durant, Oneta gave birth to Jerry and  Pamela in 1960; the family was complete when Joan was born. Oneta spent the remainder of her life as a homemaker. The couple raised cattle, kept bees for honey and grew their own produce on their land. Eventually, part of their property was rented as lots for trailer homes. Oneta owned and managed the trailer park business for about 40 years. She also was a successful Avon salesperson. She was an active member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Denison. Bird watching, fishing, and planting flowers were some of her favorite pastimes.

Oneta leaves behind many sad family members. Missing her are her sons, Larry Stinson and wife Linda and Jerry Stinson and wife Jo Carol; daughters, Joan Stinson Wright and husband Monty Wright and Pamela Stinson Silverwise and husband Patrick Silverwise; grandchildren, Lori Stinson Brown and husband Eddie Brown, Larry Edward Stinson II and wife Rachel Stinson, Andrew Stinson and wife Christine Stinson, Leigh Ann Stinson Mahone and husband Matt Mahone, Kimberly Silverwise Elias and husband Jacob Elias, Misty Silverwise, Aaron Wright Gray and husband Jared Gray, and Micah Wright and wife Kaci Wright; great-grandchildren Abby Brown, Emma Brown, Trey Stinson, Amanda Stinson, Maylee Mahone, Ella Mahone, Hadley Mahone, William Mahone, McCade Stinson, Dylan Stinson, Sam Silverwise-Nelson, Nohemy Elias; her brother Marion Wingfield; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Edward (T.E.) Stinson; parents, Dulcie (Beatrice) Fite Wingfield and Benjamin Franklin Wingfield; brothers, Edmond Wingfield, Jim Wingfield and Benjamin Wingfield; sisters, Laura Jo Walla, Ada Bell Love and Alice Gordon Clarida.

Oneta will be remembered as a vivacious, sweet and God-fearing woman. She raised a family with grace and prayers, always paying mind to sprinkle creativity and adventure in moments with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had more love inside her than she could give out and therefore was always abundantly generous. We know she has many crowns in Heaven and is probably dancing the jitter bug with Jesus.

The family viewing will be held from 3-4 p.m. Sunday at Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday September 19, 2011 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma with Bro. Darel Bunch officiating, interment following at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Andrew Stinson, Larry Stinson II, Micah Wright, Eddie Brown, Matt Mahone and Jacob Elias. Honorary pallbearers will be Jared Gray (deployed in Afghanistan), Sam Silverwise-Nelson, Larry Stinson III, McCade Stinson, Dylan Stinson and William Mahone.
