Thelma Ann Malone George passed from the arms of her loving family into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was 91 years old and had suffered from constant pain for years. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Caddo, Oklahoma since 1948 when she, her husband, Major George, Jr. and their two children accepted Christ as their Savior during a revival led by Rev. Houston Boydston of Caddo.

Thelma was born January 31, 1923 in Pryor, Mayes Co., Oklahoma to Janey Bell Colvin and James Washington "Wash" Malone who preceded her in death. Her mother died when Thelma was 9 years old of a kidney disease and her father died of head injuries from a car wreck when she was 16 years old.

Thelma was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John Samuel Colvin and Emily {Boone}; her paternal grandparents, Rayford John Malone and Salina {Robertson}; brother, John Rayford Malone and three sisters, Vivian Malone Land Reitz, Virginia Ruthie Malone Vivion, Evelyn Marie Malone Hill and an infant sister born in 1924 also two of her grandchildren, Kenneth Mark and David Michael Weaver.

Thelma’s grandparents migrated from Alabama and Illinois into Indian Territory and then Texas by wagons pulled by oxen, they then settled around Bonham, Fannin Co., Texas and Pryor, Mayes Co., Oklahoma. Just after her 17th birthday, Thelma married Major Arthur "M. A." George Jr. on February 14, 1939 in a double ceremony with her sister, Evelyn and her fiancee, Norman Hill. The two couples were married in Claremore, Oklahoma where they spent a short honeymoon, then moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Sasakwa, Oklahoma and then to Caddo where they resided on and off during the Japanese War, when the War ended in 1945 and they returned to the Caddo Hills. They eventually lived in several homes in the township of Caddo until they bought a home in the outskirts of Caddo where they resided until their deaths. Thelma has presently lived in Caddo for 65 years.

Thelma and her husband were Caddo RSVP Volunteers for years. She spent her life as a homemaker and mother until her children grew up, then she worked for C.R. Anthony Co. as a salesperson for 17 years. Thelma enrolled in RSVP on November 7, 1984, and she is such a joy to have in RSVP. Thelma is a YES person. Anything RSVP asked her to do; she tries to find a way to do it. She is never negative and is always supportive of RSVP and Caddo. Thelma helps with charity drives, donates time to the Senior Citizen Nutrition Site, and helps out at the Caddo Nursing Home with the juice cart. She also gives transportation to those in need and as said before, will always lend a hand when you need her. Caddo RSVP appreciates all you do for us, Thelma. Thanks for being a SUPER VOLUNTEER.” {Excerpt from the Bryan Co. Star).
