D. E. Shields

June 17, 1931 ~ August 14, 2025

D.E. Shields, a well-regarded businessman and cherished member of the Denison, Texas, community, departed from this world on August 14, 2025, at the respectable age of 94. He was born on June 17, 1931, in Bryan County, Oklahoma, to Grover and Nora (Frizzell) Shields. D.E. married Mary Lou Hartline on July 15, 1957. They were married 58 years before her passing in 2015.

D.E. was the respected owner and operator of Shields Upholstery in Denison, where he skillfully restored automotive upholstery. His work was not merely a craft but an art, and he forged lasting bonds with both his clients and his associates. D.E. found great joy in working in his yard and cultivating his garden, as well as reading western novels.

He leaves behind his sister, Dollie Fitch, of Cartwright, Oklahoma; his grandsons, Joshua, Daniel, Matthew, and Aaron; as well as several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Before his passing, D.E. was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Grover and Nora Shields, his beloved wife, Mary Lou Shields, his cherished siblings, and his much-loved daughters, Ann Shields and Shirley Kroll.

A graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Garden of Memory in Colbert, Oklahoma.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 North 5th Ave, Durant, Oklahoma 74701. www.holmescoffeymurray.com
