Lana Kay Hoket Spence

Lana Kay Spence of Bokchito, Oklahoma went home to be with her Lord and Savior in Durant, Oklahoma on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the age of 59 years 7 months and 5 days. She was born to John and Sue (Runnels) Hoket in Sherman, Texas on Saturday, April 17, 1954. Lana Hoket married John Spence in Durant, Oklahoma on Tuesday, November 23, 1982.

Lana was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bokchito, Oklahoma. She passed from this life just hours before the 31st wedding anniversary Lana and Johnny owned the Feed Store in Bokchito for many years. Lana was very creative and enjoyed sewing and decorating. But the greatest pleasure in her life was talking and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Spence is survived by her daughters, Sonya Rangel and Chris Houston of Van Alstyne, Texas and Crystal Spence of Bokchito, Oklahoma; mother, Sue Hoket of Sherman, Texas; grandsons, Ethan and Lance Rangel of Sherman, Texas; great-granddaughters, Paiton, Ryleigh and Kai Rangel of Sherman, Texas; uncle, Butch Runnels and wife Lois of Sherman, Texas; aunt, Charlotte Martin of Sherman, Texas; sister-in-laws, Beverly Benson of Denison, Texas; sister like friend, Barbara Hoket of Sherman, Texas and sister-in-law, Jackie Gross of Texas; nephew, Justin Lynn Hoket; niece, Ashley Belcher and husband Rusty of Sherman, Texas; close personal friend Theresa Houston.

Mrs. Spence was preceded in death by her husband, John Spence; father, John Hoket; brother, Johnny Lynn Hoket.

Family Hour will be from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.

A Funeral Service in honor of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Bokchito First Baptist Church with Ross Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at the Bokchito Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Laymon, Randall Thompson, Ethan Rangel, Lance Rangel, Chris Houston and Justin Hoket. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Runnels, Doug Deel, Buck Goolsby and Jerry Houston. Family and friends are asked to meet at the fellowship hall at the 1st Baptist Church of Bokchito at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.
