ohn Michael Robinson was born September 29, 1947, in Durant, Oklahoma, and passed from this life on Friday, July 11, 2025, in Plano, Texas.
John was born to Holland Hamilton and Elmer Florence (Taylor) Robinson. John was the third of four children. He was raised on a dairy farm just west of Bokchito. John was a 1965 graduate of Bokchito High School. He was a college graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma, and earned a master's degree from the University of Texas at Houston. He proudly served in the Army Reserves for seven years.
John was employed for twenty-three years at the Safeway plant, Brookside Division in Denison, Texas. He was a handyman and self-taught carpenter. A faithful Christian man, John was a member of the Seventh and Beech Church of Christ and then the Durant Church of Christ for over fifty years. John served as both a deacon and an elder.
On May 30, 1969, John and his college sweetheart, Patsy (Pat) Lowry were married just two days after his college graduation. They have been married for 56 years. John was a dedicated family man, and together he and Pat raised their daughter, Julie, and son, Michael. By example, John taught them to love God and serve people.
John is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Julie Arce and husband Ricky, son Michael and wife Angela and three treasured granddaughters. Granddaughters Allison Jackson and husband Cameron, Alyssa Carrillo and husband Christopher, and Sofia Arce. With one great-grandbaby on the way to Allison and Cameron.
John is also survived by his sister, Suzanne Akins, and brother Joe David Robinson both of Bokchito.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack Robinson.
John will be laid to rest at Bokchito cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Brown's Durant Funeral and Cremation Services.
