Shirley Ann Butler Jestis

jestis-s-a

November 19, 1941 ~ December 13, 2024

Shirley Ann Jestis passed away peacefully in her home on December 13, 2024, in Durant, Oklahoma. She was born on November 19, 1941, in Bennington, Oklahoma, to Franklyn and Alma (Rogers) Butler. On March 4, 1960, Shirley married the love of her life, Karl Jestis, in her hometown of Bennington.

After completing her education, Shirley embarked on a fulfilling career as a contract officer for the Army/Air Force Exchange Service where she was an appreciated employee, receiving many awards for her dedication. Beyond her professional life, she was a devout member of Fairview Baptist Church in Durant. Her involvement in the church went beyond attendance; she actively participated, offering her time and talents generously to her church family. Shirley's commitment to her faith was evident in her everyday actions and the love she shared with those around her.

Shirley's heart found solace and joy in quilting, a hobby that allowed her to express her creativity and leave a legacy of beautiful, handcrafted pieces for her loved ones. Her passion for the outdoors was also reflected in her love for the lake, where she spent many cherished moments with family and friends.

Shirley loved children, especially little children. She was a natural born mother. Her family was her cornerstone, and she had great love and concern for all her family. Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Karl Jestis, of the home, her loving son, Brad Jestis, and his wife, Tajal, of Keller, Texas and her brother, John Butler, of Denton, Texas. Her legacy lives on with her adored grandchildren, Grace, Ava, Jack, and Victor Jestis.

Preceding Shirley in death are her parents Frank and Alma Butler, her sister Francille Butler, and her brothers Eugene and Carlos Butler.

A funeral service to honor Shirley's memory will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Fairview Baptist Church in Durant, with Brothers Bill Ledbetter and Jimmy Moore officiating. Family Hour will be held before her service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the Salt Room at the church. Shirley will be laid to rest in Bokchito Cemetery following her funeral service.

Those serving as pallbearers are Darrell Jestis, Dean Jestis, Olen Jestis II, Landon Jestis, Christopher Butler, and Ricky Butler.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 North 5th Street, Durant, Oklahoma 74701. www.holmescoffeymurray.com
