Don Benton Hunter passed from this life on April 26, 2025, at the age of 75. Don was born on December 3, 1949, to Benton and Marguerite Hunter in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Don attended and graduated from Gunter Public School. He then went on to graduate from East Texas State University where he earned a bachelor's degree and then proceeded to work with his dad on the family ranch until his father's passing in 1987. Don worked for the next 20 years as a rural mail carrier and retired in 2008. He taught Sunday school and kept the nursery for many years at Dorchester Baptist church and was a member at Faith Baptist when he passed away. Don married the love of his life, Linda Hunter, on October 8, 1983, in Denison, Texas. Don and Linda raised kids and cattle together for over 41 beautiful years. He enjoyed listening to music, reading books, and watching old western movies. Don was loved by many and will be missed by those who were lucky enough to know him.
Don is preceded in death by his grandparents; Knox and Bessie Monroe and Walter and Zina Hunter; and his parents; Benton and Marguerite Hunter.
Those left to cherish Don's memory are his wife; Linda Hunter of the home; sons; Colin Hunter of Bokchito, Oklahoma and Brandon Hunter of Denison, Texas; daughter; Kelsey Dodson of Pottsboro, Texas; granddaughter; Willow Hunter; and 3 other grandchildren.
A graveside service for Don will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Bokchito Cemetery with Pastor Ryan Perry officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are Dayne Murphy, Wayne Murphy, Brett Knapp, Bobby Phillips, Danny McIntire, and Cody Spencer.
Services are under the direction of Brown's Durant Funeral and Cremation Services.
