Ruby Grimes was born Monday, October 6, 1924 in Wade, Oklahoma to Govner Robert & Bertha Lee (Johnson) Carter. She passed from this life on Sunday, June 20, 2010 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 4 days.
Ruby was a homemaker and worked on the family farm. On July 10, 1942 in Albany, Oklahoma Ruby married James Robert Grimes. She enjoyed gardening, cross word puzzles, quilting and flowers. Ruby was a member of the Wade Baptist Church.
Surviving Relatives include: son, Jimmy Grimes and wife Sharon of Kingston, Oklahoma; daughter, Betty Whitten and husband Wayne of Lewisville, Texas; son, Rick Grimes and wife Debbie of Euless, Texas; son, Ted Grimes and wife Mary of Rowlet, Texas; sister, Marie Gilley and husband Clayton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Govner and Bertha Carter; husband, Robert Grimes; one son, David Ray Grimes; seven sisters and two brothers.
Family Hour will be 7-8 P.M. Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Holmes~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home. Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, Wade Baptist Church in Wade, Oklahoma. Rev. Charles Williams will officiate. Interment will follow at Bokchito Cemetery in Bokchito, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be James Grimes, Jeffery Grimes, Harley Grimes, T.J. Grimes, Gary Barton and George Minchillo.
