Martha Magdalene Dawson was called home softly by her Heavenly Father on Friday, November 22, 2019 at the age of 92 years. She was born on Monday, July 4, 1927 in the home of Lois and Emert Brooks, in Bokchito, Oklahoma. Martha was the eldest of eleven children, seven girls and four boys.

She was preceded in death by daughter Lois Pearle, parents Lois and Emert Brooks. Husband, Joe “Buck” Dawson Son Michael Lee Dawson son-in-law Drexel Sexton. Brothers, Bill, Emert-Leon, William and Barry, Sisters, Imogene, Geraldine, Gaylene, and Kathleen.

Martha met her husband Joe in the peanut patch, and they married on Halloween, October 31, 1947. Martha and Joe had baby girl Lois Pearle in 1949. She passed shortly after she was born. Martha and Joe settled in Oklahoma City in 1952, with Son Michael Lee Dawson and soon had Leonard and Brenda Dawson. Martha was a wonderful mother and known to have an immaculate home.

Martha cleaned homes, if Joe needed help paying a bill here or there. As the kids grew up and moved away from home Martha worked for Southwest Child Development Center rocking babies all day, maybe this is where her love of baby dolls grew. She was also known for playing a mean game of dominos, mainly 42, and her incredible gardening and flower beds, which she took great pride in. She had great passion for quilt making. There isn’t a Fire Department in Oklahoma that doesn’t have one of these quilts. If you were in the family long enough, you most likely have one! These quilts went like hot cakes at family reunions. We all have wonderful memories with Martha. Each a little different, but all very special.

Martha is survived by her son Leonard Dawson and wife Debbe of Mustang, Daughter Brenda Sexton, eight Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren, and 13 Great Great Grandchildren, sisters Judy Starkus of Dallas, Texas and Linda Cheeks of Ft. Worth, Texas, Countless nieces, nephews and cousins. There is not a person that knows Martha that will not miss her.

The family would like to extend thanks to Good Shepherd Hospice and Martha Klein for their gentle kindness.

Visitation will be Monday, November 25, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The Funeral will be Held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bokchito Cemetery with Pastor Jesse West officiating. Her pallbearers will be Michael Dawson, Riley Dawson, Dayton Jim, Conner Lovelady, Steven Dawson, Calib Crist, Anthony Strakus, Ryan Wilson.

The services are under the direction of Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home
