Norma Kay (Wilson) Byfield

Norma Kay (Wilson) Byfield, of Rosharon,Texas, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, died in her home on May 16, 2021. Norma was born October 6, 1962 to Norman and Delores Wilson in Durant, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her mother Delores Wilson in 2010, and husband Stephen (Steve) Byfield in 2018.

Norma is survived by her father Norman Wilson of Bokchito, Oklahoma, daughter Kayla and husband Jacob Dawson, grandchildren Kayden Malcolm Dawson and Krystalynn Gail Dawson, all of Rosharon, Texas, son Kyle Byfield and granddaughter Brexli Anna Byfield of Wichita, Kansas. Brothers Norman D. (Judy) Wilson of Lubbock, Texas, Neville (Lynn) Wilson of North Branch, Minnesota, and Myron (Susie) Wilson of Bokchito, Oklahoma, sister-in-law Nelita (David) Cash of Muskogee, Oklahoma and brother-in-law Stan (Nancy) Byfield of Richmond, Virginia, also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Norma graduated from Bokchito High School May 15, 1980. After high school she completed Southeastern Oklahoma State University's 2-year Secretarial program in 1982.

On March 12, 1983 Norma married the late Steve Byfield at First Baptist Church, Bokchito, Oklahoma. Norma was employed as the secretary at Kiamichi Area Vo-Tech Practical Nursing School in Durant, Oklahoma from 1983-85, and the couple then moved to Texas to work and make their home.

Norma worked at Mitsui U.S.A in Houston as a logistics coordinator for a number of years until her retirement in 2017. Norma had a great love for life and enjoyed experiencing everything she possibly could.

Norma enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and traveling with Steve and their children. She took great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren, reading to and playing with them. Her family and friends will always remember Norma as a beautiful, gentle, kind and loving woman that always put her family first and loved with all she had.

Norma's family invites you to come visit between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 25th, at Brown’s Funeral Home, 4900 W Highway 70, Durant, Oklahoma.

A celebration of Norma's life will be held on Wednesday, May 26th, at 2:00 p.m. also at Brown’s Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Bokchito Cemetery Bokchito, OK with Norman D. Wilson, Neville Wilson, Myron Wilson, Jacob Dawson serving as pallbearers and Honorary pallbearer Kayden Dawson.
