Wilburn Burns

Wilburn Burns a resident of Bokchito, Oklahoma passed away in his hometown on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the age of 69 years 10 months and 5 days. He was born in Bokchito, Oklahoma to Homer and Alma (Fulcher) Burns on Friday, July 23, 1943. Wilburn married Christine Willis in Denison, Texas on Friday, February 28, 1992.

Wilburn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bokchito, Oklahoma. He worked as a Motor Vehicle Enforcement Officer. Wilburn enjoyed sports of all kinds. He loved his family, children and grandchildren.

Mr. Burns is survived by his wife, Christine, of the home; sons, Vincen Burns, Preston Burns and wife Cindy and  Brent Burns all of Bokchito, Oklahoma; sister, Shirley Henderson and husband Larry of Durant, Oklahoma; niece, Cindy Landers and husband Scott of Ft. Worth, Texas; nephew, Rocky Burns and wife Francis of Denison, Texas; step-daughters, Christie Graham of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Cindy Hampton of Gunter, Texas, Christel Malone of Sadler, Texas, Cathy Stapleton of Oolagah, Oklahoma and Carol Ashley of Durant, Oklahoma; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby and Susie Willis of Bennington, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Betty Burns of Mead, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren and many cousins

Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Alma Burns; brother, Rayburn Burns.

Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 PM Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service in his memory will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 31, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Bokchito with Rev. Tony Vanschuyver officiating. Interment will follow at Bokchito Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Crites, Allen Cartwright, Mike Impson, Mike Goodwin and Kenny Jernigan.
