Ilene Laverne (Babb) South

February 10, 1943 ~ March 21, 2017

Ilene Laverne South 74, of Calera, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday evening March 21st, 2017 at Alliance Health in Durant, Oklahoma. She was born to Andrew W. And Opal H. Hines Babb on February 10th, 1943 in Sunkist, Oklahoma.

She was educated at Boswell schools and married Leo P. South December 7th, 1961 in Brown, Oklahoma. She worked as an aid in home health and had lived around Balch Springs and Mesquite, Texas areas as well as Durant, Bennington and Calera. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and her dogs. She also loved taking care of the elderly and visiting with friends and family. -

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son David South, a sister Fredonia Elmore and a brother Andy Babb.

Surviving is her husband Leo P. South and two sons Gary and James South all of Calera Oklahoma. Sisters Marzel Pierce and Ann Hart and a brother Clayton Babb all of Durant, Oklahoma. A grandson Nicky Taylor and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Ileen South will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon March 23rd, 2017 at the Bennington Cemetery with Butch Scalf officiating.
