Robert Daniel Sanders Sr. was born on Tuesday, January 12, 1932 in Bennington to Daniel Robert and Mary Percey (Fobb) Sanders and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 surrounded by his family at his home in Bennington.

Robert married Ency Venita Durant on May 5, 1952 in Hook, Texas and later served his Country in the United States Army serving in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, they moved back to Bennington to raise their family.

 Robert retired from OG&E and later worked for the City of Durant. Robert was an Evangelist and dearly loved serving the Lord and helping others. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing gospel music.

Robert is survived by his wife of 59 plus years Venita Sanders of the home; children Robert Daniel Sanders Jr. and companion Chasity Casey of Caddo, Patricia Darlene Fox and companion Scott Philyaw of Durant, Cynthia Burch of Durant, Doretha Jean Collier of Bennington, Ronnie Joe Sanders and wife Tambre of Marietta, OK and Hiawatha Michelle Henson and husband Jeff of Tyndall AFB, FL; sister Lorene Blaine and husband Silas of Durant; 19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren on the way.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Elma Cole, Lillian Hamill, Samantha Williams and Glassie Evans; brothers Alex Sanders and Silas Billy; grandson Brandon Lee Fox and son in law Wiley Burch.

Services to celebrate Robert 's life will be held on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Rev. Melvin Gaines will officiate.

Interment will follow in Bennington Cemetery with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday from 12-2 PM.
