Glen Ray John of Bennington, OK passed away August 2, 2019 at Beacon Hill Nursing Home in Denison, Texas after a long and courageous battle with COPD.

Glen was born on February 21, 1945 in Cade, OK to William Homer and Ida May (Cobb) John. Glen was the youngest of 3 children. At the age of 18 Glen moved from Cade to Oklahoma City working at Oklahoma National Stockyards. After one-year Glen moved back to Cade. Glen spent several years with his family before moving to Texas. Once in Texas he pursued a truck driving career, he even owned two trucks at once. His true passion was truck driving and raising horses, he was also a proud member of the Christian Church of Bennington, OK. Due to his health Glen moved back to his roots in Cade, OK to start his retirement in November of 2011, he loved the country life, and enjoyed being around his family and friends once again.

Mr. John leaves behind one son, Robert (Robbie) John of California: two grandchildren, Hunter and Holton of San Antonio, TX: one sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Paul Daniel of Mesquite, TX: one brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Linda John of Oklahoma City, OK: two nephews, Leaton Daniel and Alan John: one niece, Amy (John) Mitchell: three great-nephews, Kevin John, Jaxson and Austin Mitchell: two great-nieces, Kaylee Daniel and Emma Smith: also three cousins, Gayle Barnes, Kay and Donna Jean Tracy as well as many other cousins and friends.

The family greatly appreciates all the help from family and friends who assisted Glen through his difficult times and also for being there for him when he needed something, especially providing transportation when he was unable to drive himself for medical assistance. His sense of humor, teasing and joking will be greatly missed as well as always lending a helping hand when he was able, Glen was “Pure Country”.

A celebration of Glen’s life will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday August 7, 2019 at Old Church in Bennington, OK with Pastor Jesse West officiating, burial will follow at the Bennington Cemetery.
