Kenneth Lee Strack went to his heavenly home on Friday, October 1st, 2021 at the age of 95 years. Kenneth was born May 27th, 1926, to Leo Martin and Emma Christine (Tillquist) Strack at their home near Hitchcock, Oklahoma.
Kenneth graduated from Hitchcock School in 1944. He excelled in FFA and received State Star Farmer his senior year. After graduation from high school, Kenneth started working for US Steel at the Bucher Quarry just a mile from his home. He was laid off for a year then returned to work there for the next 46 years under US Steel, Lehigh Portland Cement, and Heartland Cement. He retired at the age of 65. It was told at his retirement celebration, he only missed 5 or 6 days during his tenure at the quarry. Then everyday after work he would go to the farm with his brothers and work until dark or when all the chores were finished. In 1961 when his father passed away, Kenneth became the man of the family. He made sure his mother and brothers were well cared for until all his brothers were out on their own, and his mother passed. He helped each brother develop their own business. Kenneth and his youngest brother Jim, farmed together for many years until Kenneth’s health started to decline and his son-in-law Rich, and granddaughter Molly step in to help with the farm.
Kenneth’s true love was farming and ranching. He spent years working and building his farming business. He built miles of terraces to protect his soil and miles of tightly strung 6 wire fences to protect his livestock. Almost everyone in the area knows the term ”Strack Fence”.
In the Mid 50’s, Kenneth met and dated Grace Crawford for over 6 years. On January 28th, 1961, Grace and Kenneth got married at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Watonga. They purchased a home on Mimosa Drive in Watonga. They lived there the rest of their lives. In December of 1962, Kenneth and Grace were blessed with a daughter Valerie Rose. 2 years later they had another daughter, Emma Jo, who died as an infant.
Kenneth was a man of integrity, faith, and hard work. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Farm Bureau, Sooner Coop, CHS Coop. He supported the local FFA and 4H kids. He was inducted into the Blaine County Hall of Fame in 1997.
Kenneth was proceeded in death by his wife Grace, infant daughter Emma Jo, parents Leo and Emma Strack, brothers and wives, Donald and Jean Strack of Mulvane Kansas, Bill and Pat Strack of Watonga, sister-in-law Sharon wife of Jim Strack, and many other family and friends.
Kenneth is survived by daughter Val Davis and her husband Rich of Watonga, grandson Cory Joe Davis and wife Denise of Bixby, OK, granddaughter Molly Grace Davis of Hitchcock, brother Frank Strack and wife Maxine of Watonga, brother Jim Strack of Watonga, and a host of nephews, nieces, and many other relatives and friends.
Services for Kenneth will be held Thursday, October 7th at 10:00 am, Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Watonga Oklahoma. Pastor Orval Peters will preside. He will be laid to rest at I00F Cemetery, Watonga, Oklahoma. Wilkinson Mortuary will be charge of the services.
