Darel Lee Elmore
August 2, 1941 ~ July 1, 2021

Darel Lee Elmore was born August 2, 1941 at Oakwood, Oklahoma, to Charles Benson Elmore and Georgia M. Elmore (Reneau) and passed away July 1st, 2021 at the age of 79 years and 11 months. He was resident of Watonga for 50 years. Darel attended Oakwood schools, and graduated in 1959. He worked with the Railroad for a short amount of time, and then began his employment with Pioneer Telephone at the age of 18. His work with Pioneer Telephone started in the small community of Aline, and moved to Hennessey and then to Watonga, where he finished out over 40 years of employment with the telephone cooperative. Darel was also a volunteer fire fighter for the town of Watonga for more than 20 years.

Darel was married to Karen Kaye Haigler at Canton, Oklahoma on September 20th, 1963. To this marriage was born 2 daughters, Lorinda Jeanne Elmore, and Jill Marie Driever.

Darel was preceded in Death by: his parents C.B. and Georgia Elmore, a brother Dean Elmore, a brother Don Elmore, a sister Audrey Poole, and a sister Peggy Peterman. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Karen.

Darel is survived by: Lori Elmore of Carlton, Oklahoma and Jill Driever and Seth Wray of Carlton, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grand children Hanna Marie Lomax (Driever) and husband Corey of Bridge Creek, and Tucker Earl Driever of Watonga, he is also survived by 2 beautiful great-grandsons, Edward Alan Lomax (Eddie) and Connor Reid Lomax of Bridge Creek, as well as numerous other family and lifelong friends.

Funeral services for Darel Elmore will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Nazarene Church in Watonga with Pastor Kason Oakes officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga. Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Wilkinsonmortuary.com
