Garry Dean Jinkens

Garry Dean Jinkens
May 06, 1945 ~ May 20, 2021

Garry Dean Jinkens was born in Fairview, Oklahoma on May 6, 1945 to Leona Crow Jinkens and Raymond Jinkens. He departed this life on May 20, 2021 knowing that his daughter, Michelle, was waiting to welcome him into Heaven. He loved the Lord and looked forward to the day they were reunited. Garry was saved at an early age and he loved his relationship with his Lord. He had started attending the First Baptist Church in Okeene and was looking forward to joining the church.

Garry was member of the graduating class of 1963 of Fairview High School. He was united in marriage to Doris Nelson on June 18, 1966. They were blessed with two children, a son, Michael Dean and a daughter, Michelle Dee.

Garry worked at USG in Southard for 12 years and then began working in the natural gas gathering business for over 30 years, finally retiring in 2018. He loved his job but always said the best thing about his job was the people he worked with. Garry never met a stranger and could always strike up a conversation with anyone he met.

His main focus after retirement was the farm and working with his son. Almost every day we made the drive to the farm. Of even more importance to him was his four grandsons and attending every event they were in. He loved spending time with them and getting a big hug and having them say “I love you Grandpa”.

Garry served in the Army National Guard of Oklahoma for 6 years and was honorably discharged in May of 1971. He also served on the Canton Fire Department until his retirement.

Garry is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Doris of the home in Fairview; his son Michael and daughter-in-law Ronda of Okeene; his grandson Beau of Stillwater and grandsons Bryson, Brody and Blayne of Okeene; his sisters Joreta Martin (Denny) of Kingfisher, Loreta Peters (Lindell) of Enid, Nancy Anthony (Cary) of Aline, Priscilla Shanks (Robert) of Southgate, KY, Connie Burns (Bill) of Stillwater, Patricia Bergman (Donnie) of Beloit, KS, Donna Jinkens-McDonald of Beloit, KS and Judy Staton (Jeremy) of Bigelow, AR; brothers Edward Jinkens (Eileen) of Canton, Ronnie Jinkens of Enid and Donnie Jinkens (Susan) of Canton; and numerous family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle; his mother Leona Linn and his father Raymond Jinkens; and his brothers-in-law Jerry Quisenberry, Dean Nelson and Willard Nelson.

A celebration of Garry’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Okeene with Pastor Gaylon Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Cherryvale Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Fairview, OK. Visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at Pierce Funeral Home, 721 S. Main, Fairview.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Okeene (Building Fund) or the Okeene High School’s Athletic Dept. with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 15, Fairview, OK 73737. Condolences may be made online at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
