Susan Lee Rodriguez was born May 17, 1940 at Kingfisher, Oklahoma the only child of John and Mabel Van Dusen. She departed this life Friday, August, 30, 2024 at Mustang, Oklahoma.
Susan grew up on a family farm near Omega, Oklahoma. She attended Omega schools until 1954 and then moved to Enid, Oklahoma with her parents where she graduated high school in 1958. After high school she married her true love Arthur Rodriguez on June 10, 1958. Susan and Arthur moved to Southard, Oklahoma and had three children. Susan worked in a variety of positions including in the Canton School cafeteria, Southard Café, and the United Sates Gypsum Company. Susan was a happy and cheerful person and always had a positive attitude who loved God very much and led a Christian life. She had a gift of giving and loved giving gifts. Anytime someone visited her house she always sent them home with food and or a gift. She enjoyed oil painting, church activities, visiting and entertaining at nursing homes and spending time with family and friends.
Susan and her husband Art also enjoyed being involved in school activities and were selected as 1982 class parents. The best role that Susan played was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She dearly loved the time spent with her family. She played games, read stories, and shared tasty treats. Susan had a great sense of humor! She wasn’t afraid to put on silly costumes, make funny faces, play basketball, or swing kids around in the recliner and many other fun things. Susan always had a smile on her face and was very friendly, affectionate and loved having fun!
Susan was preceded in death by her parents John and Mabel Van Dusen and only daughter Teresa Kay James. She is survived by her husband Art Rodriguez; two sons, Johnny Rodriguez and wife Misty and their children Libby, Jodi, Jordan, Daniel, Devon and Reagan of Talihina, Oklahoma and Jimmy Rodriguez and wife Katrina and their children Dillan and Autumn of Mustang, Oklahoma; Teresa’s children Destiny, Jamie and Heidi; thirteen great and great-great-grandchildren Hannah, Emily, Faith, Lexus, Kolbie, Piper, Sadie, Scout, Noble, Paislee, Adeline, Colter and Alexandria.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Okeene, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Canton Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
