Earla June McGahen
(November 2, 1926 - May 18, 2008)

Earla June McGahen, age 81, died on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Grace Living Center in Jenks, Oklahoma. June was born November 2, 1926, in Canton, Oklahoma, to the late Earl and Virginia Goode. She grew up in Canton, and later attended Oklahoma University. On October 27, 1946, she was married to Bob McGahen. June and Bob worked with her father at Goode's Store until Earl retired in 1966. June and Bob owned and continued to operate Goode's Store until they retired in 1984. June was a member of the Canton United Methodist Church her entire life, and loved her church and church family. She was active in many church activities, including youth leadership, choir, and the women's fellowship group. She was a member of the Canton Order of Eastern Star for 64 years, having been initiated on December 27, 1944. She was active in the Canton chapter, serving as Worthy Matron several times, and served as Grand Adah in Oklahoma Grand Chapter in 1969. June is survived by her son and his wife, Bill and Linda McGahen of Canton, OK; her daughter and her husband, Pat and Dale Baccus of Bixby, OK; four grandchildren, Mike Baccus, Kiefer, OK; Matt Baccus, Poteau, OK, and wife, Tamra; Kimberly Stutzman, Coweta, OK, and husband Aaron; and Lori Holmquist, Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, and her husband Rolf; seven great grandchildren, Mahayla and Aidan Baccus, Noah and Jacob Stutzman, and Brandon, Heather and Megan Holmquist. She is also survived by a niece and nephew, other relatives, and many friends. In addition to her parents, Earl and Virginia Goode, June was preceded in death by her husband, Bob McGahen in January, 1990; grandson, Jeff McGahen in January, 1994; and an infant brother and sister who died at birth. Funeral services for June McGahen will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, at the Canton United Methodist Church. Rev. Chuck Gilbert (former pastor of the Canton United Methodist Church) will officiate. Graveside committal will follow at the Canton Cemetery with Rev. Frank Mitchell officiating. A memorial service by the Canton O.E.S. will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, at the Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home. Friends and relatives are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Tuesday and Wednesday prior to the funeral. Memorials may be made to the Canton United Methodist Church or the Canton Order of Eastern Star with the funeral home serving as custodian. June was a very special Mother, Nana, and Grandma June-Bug to her family, and a caring friend to many. Her motto was "Live, Laugh, Love", and her life will be remembered by her family as full of love and laughter, singing and smiles.
