William L. Armor

CANTON — Services for William L. Armor, 87, who died Monday will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Canton Cemetery under the direction of the Haigler Funeral Home.

Armor was born Feb. 19, 1898 at Canton and grew up in the Canton area. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He married Ora Tackitt on Aug. 11, 1923. Armor taught school at Roosevelt and coached football at Purcell.

The couple moved to Southard in 1924, where he was employed at the U.S. Gypsum plant. He retired in 1966.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He also participated in the Scottish Rite, Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity and the “0” Club at OU.
He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Wally (Mary Lois) Barnet, Decator, Ill., and Mrs. Gregory (Beverly) Green, Tulsa; a brother, George Armor, Canton; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1974.
