Franklin Delano Nault

Franklin Delano Nault
November 20, 1935 ~ June 11, 2020

Franklin Delano Nault was born Nov. 20, 1935, to John L. and Christina (Kotsmith) Nault in Okeene, Okla., and passed in peace on June 11, 2020, at the age of 84 following a short illness. He was the youngest of six children, including three brothers and two sisters. He began his education attending Pleasant Valley Country School northeast of Okeene and graduated from Okeene High School in 1953.

In the summer of 1953, Franklin met Delores (Dee) Ann Knopp at a Knights of Columbus dance in Enid. On Oct. 18, 1954, they married at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Enid, Okla. To this union were born seven sons: Mark Steven, twins Timothy James and Patrick John, Dale Edward, Francis Wayne, Lawrence Alan and Raymond Jon.

Franklin assumed the family farm from his parents in the late 1950s and began his career as a lifelong farmer, raising six sons with his wife Dee. In addition to his farming operation, Franklin began a business venture as an Oklahoma Farmers Union insurance agent in 1963 when he purchased the insurance agency from Mrs. Anthony Boeckman. This began the legacy of the Nault Insurance Agency.

In December 1975, Franklin relocated his in-home office to the Gorman Produce building at the intersection of Oklahoma 8 and 51 in Okeene. He prided himself for this purchase because it was a main crossroad which served customers in Okeene and surrounding communities. Franklin and Dee managed the insurance business and provided other general building supplies, paints, and glass, establishing himself as an all-around merchant. Dee died in 1991, leaving a large void in his life and in managing the office. Like any true businessman, he continued to run the operation until his retirement in February 2018.

In Franklin's early years, he loved hunting, fishing, dancing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Later, we may remember him by his welcoming smile, the clever nicknames he gave to loved ones, his breakfast Honey Bun, a Thermos of coffee he always had with him, his El Camino and being in control of the TV remote. He enjoyed watching EWTN. Franklin loved seeing his sons and grandchildren play sports by following them to their games and was always quick to brag on their accomplishments. He was a devout Catholic and never missed Sunday Mass. He was a former member of the Okeene Kiwanis and an active 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, his five siblings, his wife and son, Timothy.

He is survived by six sons and their wives, Mark and Cena of Edmond, Okla., Pat and Carla of Kilgore, Texas, Dale and Angela of Edmond, Okla., Francis and Sabrina of Kingfisher, Okla., Lawrence and Cora of High Ridge, Mo., and Raymond and Janel of Okeene, Okla.; 13 grandchildren, Chris Nault and wife Leslie, Cassie Firth and husband Kawlin, Chad Nault, Todd Nault and wife Haylee, Taylor Nault and wife Brandi, Logan Nault, Landon Nault and wife Ericka, Savanna Hamilton and husband Jarrid, Evan Nault, Ali Flores and husband Sammy, Aaron Nault and wife Kiley, and Eva Nault. Also, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests your consideration for a donation to the St Anthony's Parish Hall Building Fund, in care of Crawford Funeral Home, 610 NW 178th St, Edmond, OK 73012.
