May White Skunk

Funeral services for May White Skunk, 63, Hammon were held Tuesday in the First Baptist Church in Hammon.

Mrs. White Skunk, the former Mary Elk River, died late Thrusday night at the Clinton Indian Hospital. She had lived in the Hammon area all of her life. In 1940, whe was married to Edward White Skunk. She belonged to the Redman Service Club, the Cheyenne Veterans Organization and was a former sister (princess) of the Kit Fox Society. Mrs. White Skunk was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church.
Burial was in the Bethel Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of the Kern-Schneider-Kiesau Funeral Home of Clinton.
Survivors include her husband, Edward; a son, Edward, Jr. of Hammon; nine daughters, Jean Shankey of El Reno, Rosanna Jessepe of El Reno, Josephine Hamilton of El Reno, Nellie Penn of Burns Flat, Carol Yellow Eyes of El Reno, Hallie Lee of Weatherford, Clarice White Skunk of Hammon; Julia Sheridan of Macy, Nebraska and Mary Edwina White Skunk of Hammon; and 13 grandchildren.
All night wake services were held Monday night at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Hammon.
