Clarence Driver

Funeral services for Clarence Driver will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home.
Clarence Clinton Driver was born May 7, 1907 in Hico, Texas, and died early Wednesday morning March 4, 1992 at the age of 84. He moved with his family from Texas to the Kiowa community. He farmed and ranched just south of Leedey from the early 1940's until retiring and moving to Elk City in 1973. He was married to Lillie Ethel Trent on October 17, 1927 at Hammon and she preceded him in death on July 3, 1980. On October 2, 1982 he was married to Thelma Lawson in Elk City. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church serving as a Deacon and was ordained in 1961 while a member of the Hammon Baptist Church. He enjoyed working with the soil. He worked for the Upper Washita Soil Conservation service for over seven years.
Survivors include his wife Thelma of the Elk City home; one daughter, Elizabeth V. "Betty" and her husband Marvin Crowdis; eight brothers and sisters; Minnie Spitzer of Rocklin, Calif., Jessie Carter of Rocklin, Calif., Leroy Driver of Clinton, Odessa Drinnon of Hammon, Frank Graybill of Canute, Lula Trent, Katie Bright, and J.W. Driver of Clinton; three grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother, Joe Driver.
