  Full Military services were held for Master Sergeant J.W. Merrell on March 26, 2009 at Poarch Cemetery, Carter, OK.
 

He was born November 29, 1933 at Hobbs, New Mexico, and died September 18, 2007 at San Antonio, TX. with son Terry at his bedside.
 

He served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1979, mostly in Asia. He was an interpreter during the Korean and Viet Nam wars.
 

He was laid to rest beside his son James Calvin who preceded him in death on December 15, 2004. He was also preceded by wife Betty in August 2002, also stepdaughter Vicki.
 

He leaves behind son, Donald (Katherine) daughter Elizabeth, son Terrance (Ellen) Kimberly (Robert) son Darrell. Mother of his children Shirley Smith and her son Chris Wolfe. Grandchildren Ray Christopher, Tony White, Brittany Judd, Seth and Eron Lam of Sayer, Mellisa and Alexis Merrell of Lubbock, TX, B.J. Bradly, Shawn and David of Florida. Two stepchildren, Christina Arnold and Ricky Vance. Three Great Grandchildren, Jocelyn Osten, Jordon and Jay Lynn Merrell of Florida. Brother Bill Merrell of Chickasha, sisters Katherine Johnson of North Carolina, and Margaret Ward of Texas. Many friends from his time in the service and his Dart Leagues in Lockland and Kelly Texas area.
