Shirley Ann Prock was born in Elk City, Oklahoma on September 7, 1935 to Ernest and Callie Prock.

She passed away November 25, 2017 at Midwest City, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 18 days.

Shirley grew up on the family farm at Mayfield and attended Sweetwater School where she graduated in May of 1953. She was married to Loren Thompson of Grimes, Oklahoma on September 5, 1953 and they were married until his death in 1980. They welcomed Edith into their home when she was seven years old. On May 3, 1982, Shirley married Jim Anderson who preceded her in death on January 19, 2015. In the early 1960’s she apprenticed with Fannie McCampbell to become a Licensed Beautician. She worked in Erick with Mary Oren and later owned and operated her own shop until retiring in 1979. In the fall of 1983, Shirley and Jim moved from Mayfield to Erick and built a home where they enjoyed  spending time with family and friends. Shirley loved children and spent many hours caring for them as well as caring for her parents until their deaths.  She was a great cook and baker and her hobbies included watching the OKC Thunder, doing crossword puzzles and visiting with Norma on the phone.

Shirley was a member of the Church of Christ where she actively attended until her health prevented her from doing so. She especially liked to attend the Ladies Class and cooking beans and cornbread for the monthly Sunday Potlucks and also enjoyed helping with funeral meals.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Edith Perry of Lewisville, TX; 2 grandchildren, Colin Perry of Sweetwater, OK and Karle Gilbreath of Erick, OK: her sisters, Norma Reed of Erick, OK and Lorraine Griffin of Oklahoma City, OK; a stepson, Jimmy G. Anderson of Perry, MO; 10 great grandchildren, Landon, Matthew, Jacob, John, Brandon, Kailyn, Ian, Kallie, Grey and Kelsie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends, all who loved her and will her miss her sweet spirit and great sense of fun and laughter.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Erick Church of Christ, PO Box 26, Erick, OK 73645.
