Birta "Birdie" (Williams) Woodard

Birta "Birdie" Woodard was born August 25, 1925 in Magazine, Arkansas to Donna Edna and Chester Lee Williams.  She passed away December 31, 2016 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 4 months and 6 days. 

Birdie grew up in Arkansas and moved with her family to their farm southwest of Elk City. After World War II she was married to Othor Woodard in 1945 and they made their home in Elk City. Birdie continued to be a homemaker until the early 70's when she began working for Hodges Nursing Home where she worked in the kitchen. In 1978 Birdie retired and continued to enjoy caring for her grandchildren, tending her yard and flowers and later in life enjoyed her pet dogs. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Arlis Williams and Bill Williams; 1 sister, Marie Williams-Hunt; her former husband, Othor Woodard and 1 granddaughter, Katrina Michelle Woodard.

She is survived by her 3 sons, Gene Woodard and special friend, Lia Kaye Spears, Elk City, OK, Ronnie Woodard and wife, Nita, Oceanside, CA and David Woodard and wife, Connie, Elk City, OK; 5 grandchildren, Kayella Woodard, Ginger Pugeda and husband, Francisco, Audra Smith and husband, Joe, Valarie Smith and husband, Anthony and Josh Woodard and wife, Melinda; 10 great grandchildren; 2 brothers,  Roy Lee Williams and Junior Williams and a host of other relatives and friends.
