Billy Joe "Bill" Wilson

Billy Joe "Bill" Wilson was born March 27, 1953 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Hazel Lou and Joe Elcany Wilson. He passed away July 22, 2011 at home in Elk City at the age of 58 years after a battle with cancer. Services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Untied Methodist Church officiated by Terry Koehn and assisted by Carlos Ramirez. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.

Bill has spent his entire life in Elk City. He graduated from Elk City High School in 1971. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Okmulgee Vo Tech and Burns Flat Vo Tech. Bill worked as an electrician for many years and taught electrical classes at Burns Flat Vo Tech. He also worked for Tommy Potter Electric, for his father-in-law who owned Jiggs Smoked Turkeys, at Collins & Aikman in Clinton, and most recently at CenterPoint Energy.

Bill married Carol Wham on November 19, 1976 in Elk City. They have been happily married for 34 years.

He loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He also enjoyed playing with his grandkids and sitting in the swing outside with his wife Carol. Bill was a member of the Elk City United Methodist Church.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Joe Wilson.

He is survived by his wife Carol of the home; daughter Heather Sutton and husband Brandon of Amarillo, TX; son Jon Wilson and wife Jennifer of Cordell, OK; son Ben Wilson and wife Wendie of Elk City; mother Hazel Lou Wilson of Elk City; sister Nancy Hargrove and husband Chuck of Elk City; brother Jimmy Wayne Wilson of Sayre, OK; 8 grandchildren - Jordan and Noah Sutton of Amarillo, TX, Josh and Joe Wilson of Cordell, OK, Ashton Hodges of Arkansas, Ryan Musick of Ohio, Taylor Musick and Colin Wilson of Elk City, OK; 1 great grandchild; father-in-law and mother-in-law Don and Juanita Wham and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.


Service:
Services will be held Monday, July 25, 2011 at 10:00 am at Elk City United Methodist Church officiated by Terry Koehn and Carlos Ramirez. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
