Norma Lee Smotherman was born November 18, 1927 in Carter, Oklahoma to Agnus Gertrude (Mullinex) and Ike Long. She passed away December 9, 2019 at Erick, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years and 21 days.

As a result of her mother Agnes, being a school teacher, Norma Lee attended several country schools including Carter, North Elm, Dabney, then graduating in 1945 from Texola. She was married to Mack Smotherman at Erick, Oklahoma on November 18, 1945. They remained in Erick until Mack graduated from high school. They began moving following his employment until 1962 when they returned to Erick, Oklahoma to make their home and raise their family. Norma found employment with Lalicker Chevrolet in Erick until 1966 when she began working for the local post office as a clerk. In 1977 she was sworn in as one of the first female postmasters and happily served in that position for 37 years until her retirement. During this time Norma Lee served two terms as president of NAPUS. Throughout Norma Lee's life she was an avid learner and loved to experience new things. Her self taught musical talents were loved and admired far and wide which included playing the piano at the Erick First Baptist Church for over 40 years. She touched hearts and minds at weddings, graduations, funerals, musical plays, "shin-digs" and other gatherings. Besides being a long-time member of the Baptist Church, she was a member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club and the MacDowell Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Agnes Francis; biological father, Ike Long; husband, Mack; son, Micheal Smotherman; granddaughter, Mary Ellen Smotherman and special cousin, Ruth Gill.

She is survived by 3 children, Terry Smotherman and wife, Tedi, Erick, OK, Jo Dell Smotherman and wife, Teresa, Buffalo, NY and Kathy Belle Smotherman, Erick, OK; daughter-in-law, Rosa Webb, Tulsa, OK; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2019, 2:00 PM at Erick First Baptist Church officiated by Bro. Charlie Floyd.

Burial will be in the Erick Cemetery under the direction of Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home.
