Geraldine "Jerry" Tyson

Geraldine "Jerry" Tyson was born September 21, 1920 in Walters, Oklahoma to Alma Lee and Elmer Farber. She passed away May 21, 2013 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years and 8 months.

Jerry moved with her parents to Sayre in 1929 in a Model A during a snowstorm. They lived in the Wayland Community and she attended Wayland School until it consolidated with New Liberty. Later the family moved nearer to Sayre and she went to school at Doxey. She was married to Lloyd Irven Tyson at Sayre, Oklahoma on July 31, 1938. They lived in Sayre and Mangum before moving back to Sayre while Lloid was in the military during World War II. She began working for Anita's Flower Shop and Scroggins Funeral Home and worked there until 1952. In 1962 she began working for A. L. And Dala Whinery at Rose Chapel Funeral Service in Sayre. She continued there until her retirement in 1997 and even after her retirement she kept working part time at the funeral home for a number of years. Jerry crocheted and her favorite hobby was playing Canasta and Skip-Bo.
She was a longtime member of the Sayre Church of Christ since 1938 and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 1 great granddaughter.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Anita Crawford and husband, Gerald, Ft. Cobb, OK and Jana Beck , Holdenville, OK; 1 sister, Patricia Pair, Sayre, OK; 2 brothers , Hershel Farber, Pampa, TX and Jay and his wife, Mary, Cheyenne, OK, 4 granddaughters, Cheryl and husband, Brent Marion, Neosha, MO; Lon and husband, Todd Ritz, Edmond, OK, Felicia and husband, Jon Paul Dillard, Crpus Christi, TX and Jennifer Green, Oklahoma City, OK; 3 grandsons, Geralds Dean Crawford II, Weatherford, OK, Bret Lee Beck, Holdenville, OK and Brandon Beck and wife Amnesty, Holdenville, OK; 15 great grandchildren, Colby, Andrew, Gerald III, Tori, Crew, Terin, Tyson, Natlie, Rylee, Wesley, Luke, Brailee, Braxton, Angelica and Bella; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held May 24, 2013 at 10"00 am at Sayre Church of Christ officiated by Billy Clabaugh and Jay Farber. Burial will be at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Fubneral Service. Condolence can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
