Wilson Thomas was born January 2, 1910 in Combs, Arkansas to Martha Elizabeth and George Washington Thomas. He passed away August 24, 2005 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years, 7 months and 22 days.

Wilson moved with his parents to Rocky Point, Oklahoma. He was married to Octia Oleta Philport at Brushy, Oklahoma on November 6, 1940. They lived in Sallisaw until 1958 when they moved to Sickles, Oklahoma. They lived in Crawford and Hammon where Wilson worked as a custodian for the schools. In 1968 they moved to Elk City to make their home. Wilson loved to "tinker" and would make tools and implements to use in his garden and yard.

He was a member of the Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife Oleta of the home, nine children Joyce Coym and husband, Jim of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Wayne Thomas, Sweetwater, Oklahoma, Don Thomas and wife, Kathy, Reydon, Oklahoma, Charles Thomas, Amarillo, Texas, Linda Kile and husband, Richard, Perryton, Texas, Mildred Nesser ad husband, Ron of Elk City, Oklahoma, Larry Thomas, Sayre, Oklahoma, Rick Thomas and wife, Katrina, Hammon, Oklahoma, and Diana Deal and husband, Tub of Elk City, Oklahoma; one sister Hester Smith, Sallisaw, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Whinery-Savage Chapel officiated by Joe Sapp. Burial was at the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service, Elk City, Oklahoma.
