Willard Larry Burns, of Sayre, died July 1, 1983 in the Elk City Community Hospital. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 3, 1983 at the First Baptist Church in Sayre at 2 p.m., with Rev. Lynn Heard officiating.

Interment was in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma.

Mr. Burns was born on July 2, 1940 in Reydon, Oklahoma.

He attended school at Reydon and was a member of the graduating class of 1959.

The son of John J. and Jeanie Violet Burns, he married Helen Joyce Dunlap on September 2, 1961 in Wheeler, Texas. They made their home in Sayre where he worked for the post office.

He later became the owner of Freshwater Company.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.

He is preceded in death by his father and one brother.

Survivors are his wife, Joy; one daughter, Shawna Jane Burns of the home; one son, Larry Dean Burns, of the home; his mother, Jeannie Violet Burns, of Elk City; one brother, Dennis Lynn Burns of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one sister, Thurma Jean Stone of Edmond; as well as other relatives and numerous friends.
