Verlin Poindexter was born November 3, 1943, in Sallisaw OK, to Clyde and Billie Bernice Hensley Poindexter. Verlin passed away at home in Sayre, OK, on April 4, 2021, with his children by his side.
 

Verlin grew up in Sallisaw, OK, most of his childhood. He moved to Delhi, OK, in 1961, where he met and married Lillie Mae (Hughes) Poindexter. Though they divorced in 1975, they remained life-long friends. Verlin lived around Sayre, OK, for years and later moved to Fort Smith, AR, for many years. He retired and moved to Delhi, OK, around 2004.

 
Verlin was an over the road truck driver most of his career but had many years as a mechanic with Grady Jones and John Deere. He loved to play the guitar and had many family gatherings to sing and play together. Bluegrass was his favorite tune to pick. The Poindexter family of many generations continue having Bluegrass Festivals on Brushy Mountain in Sallisaw, OK, even to this day.   Verlin was saved and baptized in Siloam Springs, AR, where he attended a Pentecostal Holiness Church.
 

Verlin was loved and cherished by many to include: Ricky and Janet Poindexter of Sayre OK, Charlotte and Jerry Yancey of Meeker OK, Billy Poindexter of Sayre, OK, Jennifer and Jeremy Glass of Sayre, OK, long-time friend, (a friendship that was inseparable) Donnie Prather of Delhi, OK, surviving siblings: Wilbur Poindexter, Jewel Crown, Janice Asbery, Rosie Dillard, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
 

Heavenly siblings who have preceded Verlin include: Clifford Poindexter, Norma Mead, grandson: Jon Tyler Poindexter, great granddaughter: Kelsea Irene Yancey, and parents.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday April 8, 2021, at Delhi Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2021, from 9:00 AM ~ 5:00 PM, and Wednesday, April 7, 2021, from 9:00 AM ~ 8:00 PM at Rose Chapel, Sayre.
