Glendon A. Bruening, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather,
uncle, and loyal friend, passed away on April 1, 2026, at the age of 75 just
short of his 76th birthday on June 24th.
Glendon proudly served his country as a Private First Class in the National
Guard for six years. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Elk City, OK
through the eighth grade and later graduated from Merritt High School. On June
26, 1970, he married the love of his life, June Reynolds, and together they
built 55 years of marriage rooted in commitment, hard work, and family—a life
that stands as a lasting example to all who knew them.
Glendon was a farmer through and through. It wasn’t just what he did—it was who
he was. If you bought, sold, or had anything to do with farming equipment, you
knew Glendon. And if he didn't have what you needed, he could find it. He was
also a custom wheat harvester with many great memories made in those wheat
fields. He had a way of connecting people, solving problems, and always being
someone others could count on.His faith was an important part of his life, quietly guiding his values, his work
ethic, and his devotion to family. In keeping with that faith, his final wish
was to be honored with a Catholic Funeral Mass.
He is
survived by his loving wife, June Bruening; his daughters, Christy Givens and
husband Kendall - their children, H.D. and wife, Roxanne, Cody, Ashley Hoots and
husband Christian; Cindy Hathaway and husband Mike - their children, Cole,
Samantha and husband Jamie Albert; and his great-grandchildren, Lucas and Lilly
Hoots. A brother and sister, Jeanne Landon-Myers and Britt Willis. He is also
survived by eight nephews, twelve nieces, and many extended family members and
friends who will carry his memory forward.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Lucy Bruening, and his
granddaughter, April Renea Givens.
To
his family, he was steady, dependable, and deeply loved. To so many others, he
was a trusted voice, a familiar face, and a friend you could rely on. He often
reminded those he loved, “You are strong. You are smart. And you will survive.”
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, strong values, deep faith, and enduring
family roots, along with a reputation that will not be forgotten.
