Ola Artie (Thurman) Fuchs

Artie Fuchs was born February 18, 1907 in Commerce, Texas to Kate Fenter
and Luther Matthew Thurman, one of eleven children. She passed away
December 10, 2000 in the Great Plains Regional Medical Center, Elk City,
Oklahoma at the age of 93 years, 9 months and 22 days.

She was married to Evan Kay Fuchs at Bulo, Oklahoma on July 8, 1925. They
made their home in the Bulo community except for 3 years when they lived
in Crawford, Oklahoma when Evan worked for the State Highway Department.
She owned and operated a ceramic and art shop for many years. She was a
wold traveler and a talented artist.

Artie and Evan were long time members of the Bulo Church of Christ. The
later moved their membership to the Sayre Church of Christ. After Evan
passed away she lived on the farm until 1997 when she moved to Elk City to
make her home and became an active member of the Second and Adams Church
of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Doyle, Clayton and
an infant; five brothers, Sandord, Guy, Dillard, Claude and Chris Thurman;
two sisters, Alta Shirley and Lydia Norman; and one grandson, Mark Fuchs.

She is survived by one daughter, Chloe Davis of Elk City, Oklahoma; one
son, Westel Fuchs of Ft. Worth, Texas; two sisters, Faye Moree of
Bakersfield, California, and Ruth Otta, of Sanger, Texas; one brother,
Clem Thurman of Ft. Worth, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great
grandchildren; twelve great great grandchildren; and a host of other
relatives and friends.

Services were held Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at the Second
and Adams Church of Christ, Elk City, Oklahoma officiated by Tom Harguess
and Kevin Ballard. Burial was at Buffalo Cemetery under the direction of
Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
