SWEETWATER, Okla. - James Dean Banks, 21, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Elk City First Baptist Church with Rick Timmons and Mark Heard officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery by Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
Mr. Banks was born May 26, 1980, in Elk City to Teresa Jean and Dennis Lee Banks. He grew up in Elk City where he graduated from Elk City High School in 1999.
He was an active member of the track team that won the state championship in 1999 where he placed third in the state in the pole vault and was an all stater. He was also a member of the cross country state championship team.
He was an avid sportsman and spent much of his spare time as a taxidermist. He was married to Tiffany Joan (Milburn) in Canadian, Texas, on Jan. 27, 2001, and they moved to the Sweetwater community to make their home. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Tiffany; his parents, Dennis and Teresa Banks of Elk City; his mother and father-in-law, Kim and Paul Milburn of Canadian; his grandparents, Bobby and Howardine Martin of Sayre and J.D. and Norma Banks of Elk City; a sister, Janie Banks of Elk City; two sisters-in-law, Heather Milburn and Amber Milburn, both of Canadian; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family suggests memorials be to E.C.H.S. Athletic Memorial Fund, James Banks, in care of Local Oklahoma Bank, 200 E. Broadway, Elk City, OK 73644.
