Evelyn Estelle (Betts) Hinson, age 90, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, resided in California for many years before moving back to Ward's Chapel in 1986 where she remained until her passing.  

BORN: She was born on Friday, January 22, 1926, to Charlie Walker and Thelma Mittie (Miles) Betts, at Wards Chapel Community, OK.
 

PASSED AWAY: Evelyn passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Tulsa, OK.

 

AGE:  90 years, 10 months and 12 days.

 

EDUCATION: She attended elementary school at Atoka and graduated from Dos Palos High School in California. Evelyn attended Allen Hancock Jr. College in Santa Maria, CA.

 

OCCUPATION: Evelyn was a civil servant for many years. She managed Norton AFB Post Office in San Bernadino, CA and later McClelean AFB Post office in Sacremento, CA, and later managed Farmers Rice Coop Offices in Dos Palos, CA. She was also a housewife and homemaker.

 

MARRIED: She married Edward Hill Hinson on Saturday, June 1st, 1946 at Glendale, CA. They had 37 wonderful years before his passing on January 20, 1983.

 

CHURCH AFFILIATION, HOBBIES AND OTHER AFFILIATIONS: Evelyn was a longtime and very active member of Ward's Chapel Baptist Church, a member and Grand Matron of Eastern Stars in California. She was involved in foreign missions, Argentina, Chili, S. Africa, Romania, France, Macedonia, and Russia.

                                Alyssa Marie Hinson of Costa Mesa, CA

GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Billy and Elijah Girton of Durant, OK

                                Megan Brumm of Irvine, CA

                                Bobby Wesson of Tucson, AZ

                                Brenda Wesson of Sherman, TX

BROTHERS:                        Richard Betts and wife Louisa of Atoka, OK

SISTER:                                Angie Darrah of Vale, MD

along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins that love her dearly and many dear and loved friends.
