RUBY MAE NANNEY



Funeral services for Ruby Mae Nanney, long time resident of Atoka, were held Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Atoka Funeral Home Chapel in Atoka with Rev. Bartt Bradford officiating. Burial was in New Zion Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Atoka Funeral Service.

Mrs. Nanney was born September 17, 1934 in Atoka, OK to Gurney Scott and Mary Marie Barton Scott and passed away December 30, 2010 in Mitchell Manor Convalescent Inc, in McAlester, OK at the age of 76. She was a beautician and operated The Sewing Basket. Ruby married Dale Nanney on March 6, 1955 in Durant, OK and was a member of the Harmony Home Demonstration Club.

Survivors include her husband Dale Nanney of the home in Atoka; daughter, Michelle Powell and husband Phil of Atoka; three grandchildren, Brandi Young and husband Jim of Holdenville, OK, Ashley Powell of Weatherford, OK, Kendle Powell and wife Deborah of Atoka, OK; two great grandchildren, Talea Powell of Weatherford, OK, Branden Young of Holdenville, OK; Mother Marie Scott of Atoka; one sister, Betty Cochran of Atoka; one brother, Gene Scott of Atoka; several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; one brother-in-law Kenneth Cochran; and one sister-in-law Dora Scott.

Pallbearers were Mickey Scott, John Scott, Scotty Cochran, Aaron Chester, Todd Chester, Nathan Mullins, Chance Stinnett, Thomas Nanney and Braden Young. Honorary bearers were Ronnie Cochran, Ron Dodson, Wes Moore, Jody Sherrill, Paul Howard and Floyd Gene Howard.
