Floyd H. Blackburn
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown's Funeral Chapel, Atoka, for Floyd H. Blackburn, 90, Durant, and former longtime Atoka-area resident, who passed away Monday, July 23, 2007, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. Rev. Tom Hargrave will officiate.
He was born July 18, 1916, in Hughes County to David Washington and Sarah Isabelle (Yeats) Blackburn. He attended Harmony Schools and married Stella Mae Keylon Jan. 18, 1941, in Atoka. She preceded him in death May 5, 1998. He was a farmer and rancher, owning his own ranch. He was also a carpenter. He was a member of the Wards Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and during the past few years he enjoyed watching the Texas Ranger baseball games.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Coleman, Leroy and Houston Blackburn and sister Mable Withrow.
He is survived by daughter Joyce Caldwell, Texas; sons Ken Blackburn and wife Shirley, Durant, and Curt Blackburn, Tulsa; grandchildren Heather Dixon, Valerie Barrientos, Brad Blackburn, Kendi Blackburn, Brent Blackburn and Shelly Porter; great-grandchildren Robert Barrientos, Eddy Dixon, Joey Dixon, Sabrina, Kyleah and Cristalyn, along with numerous other relatives and many very dear and loved friends.
Burial will be in Green Meadows Cemetery, Atoka, with Tinker Ray, David Ray, Ronnie Cochran, Pat Loftis, Arvel Hall and David Brinkley serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Kenneth Williams, Don Harold Loftis, Jerriel Betts, Tot Calvert.
