Ginger (Cherry) Smith

Ginger Smith, a beloved family member and resident of Durant, Oklahoma, left this earthly life on Monday March 27, 2017 at the age of 68 years 3 months and 19 days.

She was born in Sherman, Texas on December 7, 1948 to James Euel and Edna Mae (Stone) Cherry. Ginger Cherry married her partner in life Jerry Smith on January 29, 1965 in Durant, Oklahoma.

Ginger lovingly dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. She was a member of the Center Hill New Life Church in Kenefic, Oklahoma. Ginger worked for the Choctaw Bingo for 15 years, and the Silo Schools preparing meals for the students and teachers. She had a giving heart and always made and effort to make sure everyone was happy.


Mrs. Smith is survived by her cherished children, James Smith of Durant, Oklahoma, Jerry Smith of Durant, Oklahoma, April Michelle Quick and husband Robert of Bossier City, Louisiana and Crystal Smith of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Zachary Quick and wife Mary Beth of Longview, Texas, Ethan Smith and Christian Smith both of Durant, Oklahoma, Samantha Quick of Bossier City, Louisiana and Delaney Jo Smith of Durant, Oklahoma; great-granddaughter, Laney Kay Smith of Durant, Oklahoma; and sister, Toni East of Durant, Oklahoma.
 

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, James and Eda Mae Cherry; and husband, Jerry Smith (March 25, 2016).
 

Family hour will be from 7:00 PM-8:00 PM Wednesday March 29th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.

A church service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday March 30th at the Center Hill New Life Church in Kenefic, Oklahoma with Bro. Randy Tadlock officiating. Burial will be at the Center Hill Cemetery in Kenefic. The pallbearers will be Zachary Quick, Christian Smith, Chester Smith, Ethan Smith, J.C. Smith, Stacey East and Brent East.
