Jerry Anthony Shores

shores-j-a

September 21, 1952 - March 7, 2026

Jerry Shores passed from this life on March 7, 2026 in Denison, Texas, at the age of 73. Jerry was the cherished son of Richard A. Shores and Helen W. (Barron) Shores, born on September 21, 1952, also in Denison, Texas.

After graduating Coleman High School, Jerry answered the call of duty and honorably served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Durham, stationed at San Diego, California Naval Station. His service was a testament to his dedication and love for his country.

A man of many talents, Jerry enjoyed working at Sundowner Trailer Corporation in Coleman, Oklahoma, where he applied his skills as a painter. His work was not just a profession, but a form of artistry that mirrored his creative side. Outside of his professional life, Jerry was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.

Jerry truly loved spending time in the outdoors, and hunting arrowheads was one of his favorite hobbies. This passion connected him to the land and history in a profound way. He also loved to go dancing, especially at Choctaw.

He is survived by a loving family who will continue to celebrate his life and legacy: his Aunt Hazel Garner and her husband Clyde of Bells, Texas; Aunt Betty Snow and her husband Sonny of Pilot Point, Texas; Uncle Rex Barron of Coleman, Oklahoma; Uncle Reggie Barron of Durant, Oklahoma; and numerous cousins, including Glenda Townsend and Cecile Allen of Bells, Texas, and Bobbie Masharey of North Pole, Alaska. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Richard Shores Jr. and Jimmy C. Shores; and his aunt Linda Barron.

A funeral service to honor Jerry's life will be held on March 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Center Hill Cemetery, 1369 S., Kenefic, OK. Rev. Sammy Vaughn will officiate the service, and military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy.
