Funeral services for Sidney Penner will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the Dacoma Church of God with Rev. Johnny Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery north of Carmen under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Sidney Dwain Penner, son of the late Leon L. and Sarah (Hiebert) Penner, was born June 11, 1937, at Dane, Oklahoma, and passed away July 28, 2023, at home surrounded by family at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 17 days.

Sid was raised in Major County and attended grade school at Orienta before graduating high school at Oklahoma Bible Academy in 1957. On December 20, 1958, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Joy Kinnard at Dacoma. To this union three sons were born: Gary, Jamey and Mike. He was a faithful member of the Dacoma Church of God. He and Evelyn enjoyed traveling many places with the Do Little Camping Club. Sid enjoyed working on the farm and making it a fun place for the grandkids to spend weekends and have many family gatherings. His family was a very important part of his life, and he loved his wife, kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids with all his heart.

Besides his parents, Leon Penner and Sarah Becker, he was preceded in death by his twin siblings, Earlin Penner and Erma "Pinkey" Longhofer, and a sister, Evelena Fields.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Evelyn of Alva; three sons, Gary Penner of Claremore, Jamey Penner and wife, Diane, of Alva, and Mike Penner and wife, Michelle, of Cherokee; seven grandchildren, Brandon Penner and wife, Maddie, of Owasso, Andrew Penner and wife, Ann, of Allen, Texas, Ryan Penner and wife, Shayla, of Minco, Trenton Penner and wife, Heather, of Dacoma, Mitch Penner and wife, Lisa, of Burlington, Chelsey Riley and husband, Jeff, of Yukon, and Jordan Penner of Cherokee.

Also surviving are ten great grandchildren, Emily Penner, Charlie Penner, Henry Penner, Michael Penner, Jaxon Penner, Lydia Penner, Brantley Penner, Gracelyn Penner, Samuel Riley, and Gus Penner; many other relatives and friends.
