Enid (formerly Goltry) – Funeral service for Thomas "Tom" Albert Hakel, 65, who died Monday, October 11, 1999 at University Nursing Center, Enid, will be at 10:30 AM Thursday at Evangel Assembly of God in Enid, officiated by Pastor Lester Lowry and Pastor Thurman Sparks. Burial will be at Karoma Cemetery near Goltry directed by Lanman Funeral Home of Helena.

Tom was born on May 3, 1934 at Goltry, the son of a Emill and Anna Pliesek Hakel. He attended school at Goltry and graduated from Goltry high school in 1955. He worked at the Farmer's Exchange of Goltry as a mill attendant until he retired in 1986. After he retired he ran his own small engine repair business until his illness in 1998. He lived in Goltry until moving to Enid 13 years ago. He was a member of the Christian Union Bible Church in Goltry, the Oklahoma Polka Club and he attended the Evangel Assembly of God church in Enid. Tom was a beloved father and wonderful person who will be deeply missed by all of those who knew him.

He is survived by one daughter, Cindy Hakel of Enid; two brothers, Huebert Hakel of Enid and Frank Hakel of Angleton, Texas and many nieces, nephews and great – nieces and nephews.

The casket will be open at the funeral home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 AM until 7 PM.

Memorials may be made through the Lanman Funeral Home to the American Cancer Society, Lung Division or Relay for Life.
